Iowa Corn Study

corn crop

Purpose: To increase biomass harvest which will supply plastics made from plants. Study to be conducted by New Energy Farmers under Joe Ahrens.

Announcement: A trial will be conducted to study the effects of varying amounts of Mineral Max AG on corn. Characteristics to be analyzed include the growth of young and mature plants, how plants maintain their health when exposed to stresses, and how plant health can affect costs.

The study will be conducted with the University of Iowa in Ames, Iowa, a community college in Ames, and local area farmers. The study will begin at the start of the next corn planting season. The final details are in process.

The proposal is to divide 25 acres of corn into subsections. The corn in each subsection will be fertilized with varying amounts of Mineral Max AG applied by foliar spray. There will also be a “control subsection” where Mineral Max AG will not be used. The corn in all subsections will be handled in the same manner, except for the amount of Mineral Max AG that is applied.

More to follow……stay tuned.
